The Grand Tetons

A broad view of the Grand Tetons, taken heading toward Jenny Lake. Elevation 6,700 ft.

Moose in the meadow, as I was reaching the higher altitudes.

Bears in the same meadow but this was when I was heading back down. A black and a grizzly hanging out.

A view back at the Grand, Mount Owen and Teewinot. This was after getting up the canyon and heading North.

Getting towards the more alpine conditions. Still trees but not as many.

At this point the snow was becoming difficult to traverse but the destinations was the far rim of the basin ahead. Which was also up quite a fair amount for a New Orleanian.

Final ascent to Lake Solitude. Had to stop and let my lungs catch up to low oxygen levels. The blurry vision and hyperventilation was a tell tale sign. With light headedness it was similar to Mardi Gras.

Lake Solitude at 9035 ft.

The final stagger that it took to get up to Lake Solitude.

The view of Grande, Owen and Teewinot from Lake Solitude. To get back, the trail goes toward those mountains and then down to the left (East). The total hike is 14.4 miles. I'm ready to do another one, except next time spend the night up there. You can go even higher on Paintbrush Divide, then back down again on another trail.

I'll get some pics in from Yellowstone soon. voila
